I am so easily surpassed, and so quickly. Casey, the mad genius who fixed my blender, has started a cooking blog. Oh, the things he makes. I actually got to try his wonderful Panna Cotta with strawberry balsamic coulis. It made me spontaneously recite poetry. Also, he’s taking better pictures of food than I could ever hope to. Bastard.
Check him out here.

Seeing as it’s Christmas Eve and some of us might be opening presents tonight (C and I are, we flipped a coin) I wanted to show you the weirdest present I’ve ever seen.
It wasn’t given to me, or even from me. This is what my friend H received one year from her mother. We still laugh about it.
A silver serving tray. Very shiny, highly polished. And in the shape of a flip-flop.
Seriously. A tray for serving food, in the shape of a cheap, floppy shoe. Where feet go.
Don’t believe it exists? Check it out:
So if you get something you don’t like this year, just remember. It could have been a giant silver flip-flop.

I posted a Halloween playlist a while ago, but this is my other one, stuff I listen to otherwise. There’s no real theme, other than the fact that I like all these songs and most of them are fun to harmonize with. Go and listen, it will brighten your day (maybe). I didn’t want to post the actual player here, because I don’t like opening web pages and being forced to listen to something. This way it’s up to you! Giving you more control, that’s the kind of lady I am.

I don’t keep my lolcat love a secret–I check icanhascheezburger on a daily basis. But this one is definitely one of the best ones:
Thanks, M, for pointing it out!

If you’re in the market for jam, that is. My friends Gina and Karl have started making the most AMAZING homemade jam. I went over tonight for a taste test and tried the following:
Two to Tango Strawberry Mango
Kissy Kissy Peach Strawberry
Witches Brew Berry Peach Champagne
Hell Fire Hot Jelly Peach Jalepeno
They are completely awesome. Tonight I also helped make another flavor: Triple Berry with Chipotle and Lemon. And it tastes amazing. Currently, prices are $5 for an 8-ounce jar, and $9 for a 16-ounce jar. You can check them out on myspace until they get their website up and running: Jam It All
If you want a truly fantastic taste experience, get in touch with them and buy some jam. Aside from supporting local business, you get to have jam! In neat flavors! Made with love by Gina and Karl!
If anyone from the Slidell area suddenly WANTS some of this jam, let me know by tomorrow evening and I’ll bring some for you. Pay me when I get there. We’re leaving for Louisiana on Wednesday morning.
